Turned upside down, the Gold Room resembles a Mayan BALL COURT. In the MESOAMERICAN BALLGAME the struggle is seen as between day and night; between life and the underworld, and in some times and places included human sacrifice. Courts were considered portals to the underworld and were built in key locations within the central ceremonial precincts. The bouncing rubber ball used in the game is thought to have represented the sun. A spiritual exchange between the living and the symbolic world, players kept the ball in air as proof of the sun's flexible, continual journey.

WENDY Boy, I bet you we could really have a good party in this room, huh hon?
